It escapes as a sigh from the heart
getting heavier as it falls through
your ribs, your belly, your hips,
your thighs, your calves and your sole.
And your soul. And you sit down
and it sits down too.
Sadness fills with some-
sadness empties of others.
A beautiful voice drives me
to laughter, but there is no
wind to carry my sigh,
And the leaves rustle in mockery.
I rise to leave. It follows.
I smile for we must together
prepare the sun for another day.
So what if it burns our hands and legs?
