This is written in the form of a Ghazal. A ghazal is made up of couplets and uses rhyme and refrain. There is a signature rhyme and a signature refrain for each Ghazal.

The signature refrain appears verbatim at the end of both lines of the first couplet and at the end of the second line of subsequent couplets. The signature rhyme appears as the word preceding the refrain (every time it appears).

The signature refrain can be a word or a phrase and the signature rhyme can be a word or a syllable pattern.

For the ghazal below, the signature refrain is Nobody. The signature rhyme is ‘-ind’

I heard a knock on the door; answered to find nobody
I forgot I was outside and it came from behind nobody. 

I knocked on my door to hear what it sounds like -
out slipped an empty note that was signed nobody. 

They say when the fascists come knocking, you must
answer all dressed up and confess you confined nobody. 

They say when the fascists came knocking,
you had a buttoned smile and you consigned nobody. 

When the time comes, you will beat your chest
and say in soft tones: I maligned nobody. 

When the time came, you stood by your door
and for every frantic knock, you declined nobody. 

What you held in that heart of yours painted thick
in hate and fears, who would have divined? Nobody. 

I heard when your place was full; you locked it up and
offered the keys to the fascists saying: 'I resigned nobody.'
